My art often focuses on people and their unique interests and characteristics.
I
am interested in the enthusiasts’ relation to often mundane, commonplace objects. I am fascinated in people’s
ability to find pleasure in objects that have no monetary value but still have lots of sentimental importance and value. My
work focusses on the relationship between enthusiasts and ‘outsiders’ who don’t share their passion. ‘Outsiders’
may find it difficult to understand the ‘jargon’ of enthusiasts as the language used is often specialist and very
personal to the enthusiast and a small group of people who collect the same thing. My work comments on the private and often
intimate world of the enthusiast.
I often use ‘sites’
as a basis for my work and allow the work to grow from a specific location or group of people inhabiting or using the location.
