The Collectors is a series of videos of collectors and enthusiasts talking about their hobbies and collections. In each
video only the words and phrases directly related to the individuals' hobby are included - all of the words that link the
sentences together are removed. The viewer is bombarded with a string of words and sometimes it only becomes apparent what
the enthusiast is talking about after watching for a while. Even though most of the original interview is cut out you can
still see the passion and knowledge of the speaker.
The intention
of the work is to examine the intense nature of obsession and the enthusiasts' relation to their passion. This piece comments
on the private and often intimate world of the collector.

making The Collectors I have created my own personal collection, of collectors.

Vanessa was created for an exhibition called Bishops Tipple at St Stephens church. All of the pieces in the exhibition
were made in response to the site. I went to the church and filmed Vanessa talking about her hobby, collecting porcelain.
